| Batey 9 |
 Many Haitians live in the Bateys of Barahona to do the grueling work of harvesting sugarcane and are among the poorest people in the Dominican Republic. There are 22 bateys or communities in the area.
In Batey Nueve GO Ministries supports a Church for the community and a Feeding Center that feeds a daily nutritious meal to 40 of the most needy children. Construction of a parsonage is complete and construction on the second-story for a Conference Center is underway. Following construction of the Conference Center, a second-story will be added to the Feeding Center for the Dormitory. |
